Westhill Park Baptist Church in Regina wants to do more than simply write cheques to show it cares for the world: it is encouraging 200 people to do at least 4 hours of local service in the community.

“Our vision for this year is to: Love God, Love Others and Serve the World,” says Darren Andres, Westhill’s new pastor for Adult Ministries. “This came out of a full staff effort to dream about a new partnership that builds something local on top of the partnerships we already have with CBM and churches in Bolivia, and with Katepwa Baptist Kamp.”

For the local partnership, Westhill Park decided to work with Soul’s Harbour Rescue Mission, a local ministry to people living in poverty that provides a soup kitchen, clothing ministry and help for people with addictions.

Dr. Bruce Milne, a well-known Canadian Baptist author, has published his most recent book: Know the Truth: A Handbook of Christian Belief'.

Many of Dr. Milne’s books are considered classic works of theology. He served as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Vancouver from 1983 to 2001. Now retired, he has long been in demand as a preacher, teacher and encourager of pastoral leaders.

The CBWC has welcomed 23 new pastors to our denominational family through our annual New Pastors Orientation, April 19-21.

These pastors and ministry leaders from across Western Canada have just completed an extensive 3-day orientation session at Carey Centre where they got to know each other and the work of the denomination. Participating new pastors included:

The New Pastors Orientation session is offered every year to Canadian Baptist pastors. It has been designed for pastors who have begun working in CBWC churches or ministries within the past 5 years. The NPO helps orient them to the vision work and staff of the CBWC as well as helping them to connect to the larger CBWC family.
