CBWC Announcement
Canadian Baptists rejoice with Christians around the world as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter. On this most joyful of days, we celebrate the endless mercy of God who loved us so much that Jesus died for our sins and yet rose again on the third day, conquering death itself, so that all who believe in Him may have eternal life.
“He is not here: for he is risen, just as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead.” Matthew 28:6.

CBWC News
It is that time of year again – the annual flooding of the southern prairies is beginning, causing damage to farms and properties. Already, one person in southern Manitoba has been killed. Experts fear that this year’s flooding might set new records.
As the snow melts and ice jams clog rivers like the Red River and the Assiniboine River in southern Manitoba, the water overflows the river banks and extends for many kilometres across the flat prairie and its farms. In Manitoba, heavy rains in the fall left the ground saturated and unable to absorb the spring snow melt. Especially heavy snowfalls have meant more water as the snow melts.
Flooding has already been experiences in communities around Winnipeg and communities like Swift Current, SK. Water is pooling in the fields in Alberta too.
For now, prairie residents are doing their best to prepare with sandbags and water pumps. They are also relying on ring dykes around 18 communities and knowledge that 1800 homes have been raised above the flood levels of the devastating 1997 flood. Still, they are casting anxious eyes toward North Dakota where extreme flooding has already begun. Experts believe the rivers will crest to their highest overflow before the end of April.
There are more than a dozen Canadian Baptist churches on the flood plains and in communities that might be affected by this year’s flooding. Please pray that the floods will not be severe or damaging, that flood do not cause the farmers economic suffering, that no further loss of life will occur, and that our churches will be able to respond to the emergency by volunteering with practical assistance and giving the assurance of God’s love.

Meet a Canadian Baptist Author: John Forrester |
CBWC StoriesThe next author we'd like to highlight is: John Forrester Dr. John Forrester was born in the UK and farmed in Prince Edward Island for many years. He received his MDiv in 1994 from Regent College/Carey Theological College, a ThM from Regent in 1995 and his DMin from Fuller Seminary in 2005. He served as field staff in Turkey for 3 years with CBM and in 2008 became the senior pastor at Martin Grove Baptist Church in Toronto, where he currently serves. He has been married to Betty for more than 35 years and has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. A recent book of his is titled: Grace for Shame: The Forgotten Gospel. This book explores 3 questions: What is the nature of shame? What does the Bible have to say about shame? And what are the practical implications of this for the life of the church and for pastoral ministry? This book offers good news of God’s rich grace for those who are burdened more by shame than guilt, asking us to take a second look at the Bible and consider this forgotten gospel.
