Gathering for Worship Available |
CBWC NewsGathering for Worship: Patterns and Prayers for the Community of Disciples, is now available through the CBWC. We have 80 copies of this valuable and popular liturgical resource available for churches to purchase at $65 per copy, including shipping. While retaining a ‘free church tradition’, it looks at how the faith language of Christians within the Baptist tradition can be framed in a worship tradition that is structured, yet open to the Holy Spirit. About half of the churches within the CBWC have been using Gathering for Worship, which includes a disc version of the entire text, in their worship services. Gathering for Worship is published by the Baptist Union of Great Britain but is not available in Canada except through the CBWC. The book can be ordered online by clicking here or by going to our Congregational Resources page under the Resources tab in the main menu. Or, if you prefer, send a cheque to the CBWC’s Calgary office for the number of copies you wish to order. The book will be mailed to churches within 24 hours of receiving your order and payment. If we run out of the 80 copies we have available currently, we will order more, so don’t delay, get your copies today! |

Apply for Summer Grants Now |
CBWC NewsNow is the time for churches to apply for grants to hire students as summer staff. Churches wishing to hire extra summer staff for urban camping initiatives, vacation Bible schools and other activities can get help with the cost of wages by applying for summer temporary employment grants from their provincial government or the federal government. Summer employment programs typically require churches to hire students full-time for a minimum of 6 weeks and to pay them at least the provincial minimum wage. The government programs subsidize these wages, dramatically reducing the costs to churches. Typically, the church would pay the wages and be reimbursed by the government. Most provinces have some sort of employment creation, job training and wage subsidy programs. As well, the federal government offers wage subsidies. The Canada Summer Jobs Program has information available at this link. Go to provincial websites for information on the programs each province offers. |
