Heartland Region Personnel Changes |

This has been a whirlwind of a season for the Heartland Region. Ken Thiessen’s resignation as the Heartland Regional Minister was unexpectedly received by CBWC Executive Staff, the CBWC Board as well as most of our Heartland region. Since then the Heartland Regional Ministry has been adjusting. Summer holidays for staff and board members affected the timing of the formal release of notice ofKen’s departure.
Upon Ken’s departure Executive Minister Jeremy Bell delegated Dennis Stone, the Alberta Regional Minister, interim responsibility over Heartland Area Concerns. John Prociuk, a previous Interim Heartland Regional Minister, was also enlisted for his assistance for the Heartland Region.

 Heartland NewsWesthill Park Baptist Church in Regina wants to do more than simply write cheques to show it cares for the world: it is encouraging 200 people to do at least 4 hours of local service in the community. “Our vision for this year is to: Love God, Love Others and Serve the World,” says Darren Andres, Westhill’s new pastor for Adult Ministries. “This came out of a full staff effort to dream about a new partnership that builds something local on top of the partnerships we already have with CBM and churches in Bolivia, and with Katepwa Baptist Kamp.” For the local partnership, Westhill Park decided to work with Soul’s Harbour Rescue Mission, a local ministry to people living in poverty that provides a soup kitchen, clothing ministry and help for people with addictions. Pelican Lake Camp to be Sold |
 Heartland NewsPelican Lake Baptist Camp will be sold sometime in the near future with the proceeds applied to the camp’s debt and the remainder put into a trust fund. The decision to sell the camp came at its Annual General Meeting on April 10 in Brandon. The small Canadian Baptist camp in the Heartland, located on 60 acres on Pelican Lake southeast of Brandon, has been struggling for several years and has not held camps for the past couple of summer camping seasons. The camp has a debt of about $45,000 for new washroom facilities and operating costs. Read more after the link. |
