Last Sunday I was hit over the head with the theme of grace! What a great thing to be hit with!
While driving between the three different churches I visited that morning, I heard two different
versions of Amazing Grace on the radio, and then walked into Living Hope Fellowship, sat down
beside my wife just as one of the pastors, Kyung, began his message entitled, Amazing Grace.
He even played the song at the end of his message. I was starting to think there was a message
here for me.
In my role, it’s very easy to get caught up with administrative and organizational tasks, but
this Sunday was a good reminder to me to not lose sight of Jesus, to not lose sight of why I
do what I do. I know that September tends to be one of the busiest months of the year in any
church and many congregations hold “kick-off” events to welcome everyone back from the
summer and to launch their fall programs and ministries. I know it’s easy to get caught up in
the organizing, the scheduling, the administering of programs and activities and events that
are happening at the church. These are good things, but in the midst of them all may we never
forget what motivates us to do these things. May we never lose sight of the one who defeated
the power of sin and death, the one who rose to new life, the one who gave of himself for us
and is the foundation of the church. Don’t let September and October weigh you down, instead
let the amazing grace offered to us through Jesus lift you up.
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy
Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:13-14
Grace and Peace
