The Neighbourhood Church and VantagePoint Community Church in Northeast Edmonton are sharing building spaces. The two churches work in tandem and regularly exchange pulpit supply and other resources. VantagePoint Community Church, a new church within the CBWC, has the primary use of Neighbourhood’s more northern building. Pastor Garry Mullen works with this energetic church of about eighty to reach their community with the Gospel by intentionally using the tools of this generation such as Twitter, YouTube, video, texting and websites.
The building was constructed several decades ago when heating costs were less and before weather took its toll on the structure. This means the building needs some refurbishing and replacement of the front windows, which also service the child-care area. Church ministries such as Christian preschools and other weekday programs have operated out of this space in the past, but some attention is needed to make the space both useable and presentable for those purposes again.
Pastor Kevin Green of The Neighbourhood Church writes, “The South facing wall of the classrooms is in urgent need of repair. When it was constructed, it was not insulated properly. In addition, much of the wood surrounding the windows is starting to rot. In winter, these rooms are extremely cold and drafty for the people using these classes—mainly children and toddlers. We feel that this wall needs to be repaired as soon as possible since the condition of the wall does not reflect the value we place on our children and our ministry to them. The estimated cost to address this problem is $8,000.”
Your generous gift to this Century II project would help to repair the windowed-South wall of this church and make it useable for ministry. Your gift would be much appreciated!
