Elizabeth Rabuka – June 17, 2011
Elizabeth Rabuka peacefully took her last breath on earth Friday evening, June 17, 2011, at 8:15, surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was 91 years of age, and was predeceased by her husband, CBWC pastor Rev. Jake Rabuka, three years earlier. Together they had served in
Canadian Baptist churches in Toronto (1945), Sault Ste. Marie (1952), Nipawin (1955), Wakaw (1960), Moosomin (1969) and Kipling (1972). They retired to Penticton in 1980 to be with their son, Glenn. They continued in interim service in CBWC churches for several years following. Elizabeth left behind two children (Glenn, of Penticton, and current table officer with the CBWC, his wife Louise (Hind), son Scott and daughter Suzanne, and their five children; and a daughter, Elaine, married to Peter McStravick of Brantford, ON, and their two children Adrian and Andrea, and their three children).
Through all her ministry life, she was a faithful supporter of Baptist Women ministries, at all levels. Recent involvement was with her husband in seniors' ministry.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at First Baptist Church, Penticton. Because she loved and supported the work of Canadian Baptist Ministries, the family asks that any donations be made there.
