October 20, 2011 -- First Baptist Church in Regina is sponsoring a fascinating series of lectures that will unlock the secret connections between great artists and the Christian message.
Timothy Long, curator of MacKenzie Art Gallery, will lead the series by looking at the codes that link the artistic masterpieces across five centuries. He will trace his 20-year journey into the vaults and galleries of the world’s great museums. His discoveries shed light on the enduring power of painting and its surprising connections to Christian spirituality.
The 4 talks will be held at the Regina Public Library (Central) in the theatre, 2311 12th Avenue in Regina, Saskatchewan. The talks are:
- The Rembrandt Code - Monday, Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m.
- Giotto’s Icon - Monday, Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m.
- Rouault’s Cross - Monday, Nov. 7, 7:30 p.m.
- Manet’s Mirror - Tuesday, Nov. 15, 7:30 p.m.
