July 27, 2011 – Laurier Heights Baptist Church in Edmonton suffered extensive water damage on Friday July 22 when the church’s main water service burst in the backyard. The water pressure pushed up the cement floor in the church’s mechanical room, flooding the basement with about 20 inches of water. The water caused a gasline break and the furnace room suffered a small fire. The fire alarm went off and the fire was put out quickly. However, the church now has significant water damage in the basement, including a lot of mud and silt, and there is a huge hole in the backyard.

Jake Nickel - July 24, 2011

We mourn the passing of Jake Nickel who died on July 24 at age 85. Jake was the father of Rev. Roy Nickel who was formerly the pastor at High River Baptist and a member of the CBWC’s Alberta Regional Advisory Group. Please pray that God will comfort the family as the grieve their loss. The memorial service will be at First Baptist Church in Lacombe on Friday July 29 at 1 pm.
