| Fall 2009 Appeal - West Lethbridge Church Plant |
![]() West Lethbridge is a vibrant, growing community, composed of a mixture of predominantly young families and university students and staff. There are many international students and visiting scholars from all over the world, including countries which are currently closed to the Gospel. We see tremendous opportunity to live out our calling to be salt and light in this area. Currently, in the north half of West Lethbridge (north of Whoop Up Drive) there are over 12,000 people, with several additional new neighbourhoods currently expanding (for example Heritage, Highlands, and Benton Crossing). The only places of worship in this entire northwest quadrant of the city are two Mormon churches. Under the leadership of Patrick and Vicki Hazelwood, a new church plant has been started in West Lethbridge. Our prayer is to be an evangelical church in this neighbourhood, where God’s Kingdom can be seen, experienced, and entered into as we embody God’s calling to be His people. We understand the ‘missio dei’ (the mission of God) to bring the good news of Jesus to all and also to bring mercy and reconciliation to those in need. ![]() Our Church is a community of people who embrace the context in which we finds ourselves, entering into the rhythm of our neighbourhood, loving and serving our neighbours. Discipleship happens through home groups and weekly gatherings for worship, prayer, sharing and teaching from the Word. Community develops intentionally as we live in close proximity to each other in our west Lethbridge neighbourhood and covenant together for accountability and involvement in each other’s lives. |
