God welcomes us to the 20th Baptist World Congress in Honolulu, Hawaii, July 28-August 1, 2010. Now is the time to begin making plans to attend as Canadian members of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA), our worldwide Baptist family.

The Baptist World Congress is an opportunity for Baptists from all over the world to join together for a life-transforming time as we listen collectively to the Spirit of God. Congress organizers hope to remind us that God’s path is like that of the wind – it may be traced but never predicted. The World Congress occurs only once every 5 years. The last World Congress was in Birmingham, UK in 2005.

Gathering at Honolulu’s Hawaii Convention Center, Baptists from around the world will have wonderful opportunities for uniting in fellowship and celebrating God’s love. Bible studies, plenary sessions, workshops, concerts, mission events, and an exhibition hall will help attendees explore the Holy Spirit’s call and challenge on their lives. There will also be programs for children and youth. A Living Water Celebration, a multi-media event sharing God’s transforming love that has been held all over the world in the past 5 years, will be a Congress highlight on July 31.

All Baptist women are also invited to attend the Women's Leadership Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii, July 24-27, 2010, immediately preceding the Baptist World Congress. The conference, held at the Sheraton Waikiki, will have the theme, "In Step with the Spirit," based on Galatians 5:25, "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

The BWA represents a community of 105 million Baptists in more than 200 conventions and unions from more than 100 countries. Canadian Baptists of Western Canada is a member of the BWA.
