Now is the time for churches on or near Vancouver Island to sign up for Board Leadership 101, a one-day seminar designed by the William Carey Institute to equip newly elected church boards with practical knowledge about governance and leadership that will help them become more effective.

Board Leadership 101 will be offered at New Life Community Baptist Church in Duncan, BC on Saturday, January 23, 2010, 9 am – 5 pm. The seminar and workshop will be facilitated by Rev. Sam Chaise, Director of the William Carey Institute. Costs for the course are $69 per person for the first 5 people for the same church and $20 per person from the same church after that.

Board Leadership 101 is the foundation course for a series of leadership seminars offered by the William Carey Institute. The 101 course explores topics such as different approaches to board governance, the relationship between the board and the pastoral staff, committees, setting a church vision and turning that vision into reality. The overall series of seminars covers topics such as spirituality and leadership, developing discernment, governance models and conflict management.
