Okay, here is the disclaimer up front: I am about to show my age or, in other words, to sound like the “old guy”. I remember when a “campfire” was something you gathered around and roasted marshmallows over, but now it’s a virtual room, online, where people gather to hold discussions. I remember when “monkey’s” were small animals you saw in the zoo, or more specifically I remember the monkey that took a piece of cake out of my wife’s hand before she was able to eat it when we were in Kenya. Now “Survey Monkey” is a free online tool that allows you to take surveys of large groups of people on numerous topics. My assistant, Dawn, keeps referring to it at “Monkey Survey” which maybe says more about those of us taking the surveys, than the surveys themselves. I remember when “Google Docs” was…actually until a few years ago none of us had heard of the word “google”, now we “google” all the time. I’m not complaining about these things, they are actually all useful tools, but they are classic examples of our ever changing world. As we begin a new year, even in the midst of all the change, may we take comfort and rest in these words, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 Amen! |
