July 16, 1945 - May 17, 2010

It is with profound sadness that we accept the passing of our much respected friend Ken Hawley, on May 17, 2010.

Ken bravely fought a 2 year battle with aggressive prostate cancer. His positive attitude and deep belief that he could rise above each challenge enabled him to make a difficult situation manageable. Born in Vancouver, raised in Kelowna and returning to Vancouver to attend UBC, Ken graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Commerce. He started his career with Confederation Life. In 1986 he joined The Rogers Group Financial where he excelled in serving his many faithful clients. Ken's leadership and business acumen extended to many financial boards, committees and non profit organizations.

Ken was a very important part of our close-knit family and is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Doreen; his three children, Michael, Leah and Kara and his grandchild, Emma. He was a dedicated member of the financial services community and a true testament to his faith. He was a member of West Vancouver Baptist Church.Ken played tremendous roles in our Canadian Baptist family when the CBWC was known as the Baptist Union of Western Canada. Working with the BUWC and the Canadian Baptist Federation, he helped establish the pension arrangements for many pastors and sat on the BUWC Board.

Our sympathy and prayers go to his family and his many friends.

A service will be held at First Baptist Church, Vancouver 969 Burrard Street on Thursday May 27th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Ken's honour to Keats Camp, Barnabas Family Ministries or BC Cancer Research Foundation.
