| The Choice is Yours! |

Ours is a world full of choices. Will I watch the World Cup and if so, which team will I cheer for? Should I sign the petition to try to stop the HST? Do I support the G20 and G8 meetings being held in Canada? Tim Horton’s or Starbucks? One of my favorite passages in the Bible comes near the end of the book of Joshua when there is a choice to be made. Joshua, the leader of the Israelite nation, gathers all the people around him, reminds them of the journey they and their ancestors have travelled and how God has been their keeper and their guide. And then, even after reflecting on God’s faithfulness he doesn’t impose his way, but rather offers a choice. He says, “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (24:15) So what about you? Have you thought about who you will serve? Have you made a choice? All choices have consequences, some more profound than others, but a decision to choose Jesus Christ will be life changing both now and forevermore. And remember, deciding not to choose, is actually making a choice. |
