| More Wisdom Please! |

I have now been in this position for almost two years and I am often asked by people how I’m doing in my role and how they can pray for me. My usual response to the first part is, “most days I like what I do”. As with any work, there are stresses and strains, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve in this way. When they ask how they can pray for me, I usually ask for “wisdom” because I never know what question will be raised in the next phone call or email. Recently a pastor reminded me that the book of Proverbs, even though it seems somewhat disjointed at times, passes along practical and applicable words of wisdom that in many cases are timeless. This morning I read this verse, “a dry crust eaten in peace is better than a great feast with strife” (17:1). These words may be easier to swallow on a full stomach, but the author reminds us that prosperity comes not in dollars and cents, but in the peace that surpasses all understanding through Jesus Christ. My hope for you as you enjoy the summer months is that you would know that peace and that the joy of the Lord would be your strength. |
