Jan Paasuke, President

Bio:

Jan grew up on a farm in Olds, Alberta. A Registered Nurse by profession, she has been givted with a love for serving on Boards and committees. Over the past 40 years she has served on most major boards within the CBWC. Jan attends Westview Baptist in Calgary, where she is church clerk and chair of the Preschool Board. She is married to Rein and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.

Carol Mager, VP of Planning

Bio:

Carol is a long time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond BC. She currently serves as the chair of the Deacons Board and is a vocalist on the worship team. She works part-time/ casual for MCC Employment Essentials in Vancouver. Carol and her husband, Mike, have 2 adult children, Kimberly and Chris.

Glenn Rabuka, VP of Personnel & Program

Bio:

Glenn has served 12 years on the CBWC board and more than 20 years as the moderator of the BC/Yukon Region. He attends First Baptist in Penticton. Glenn has worked for more than 40 years in the education field. He is married with 2 children and 5 grandchildren

Greg Anderson, VP of Finance

Bio:

Greg is the pastor of Riverdale Baptist Church in Whitehorse, Yukon. I bring to the CBWC Board a deep passion that we always keep in mind we are first and foremost a part of God's church. The teachings and ways of Jesus should guide our life together and our every decision. I have lived for many years in Vancouver, BC and Whitehorse, Yukon and therefore have a good understanding of both urban and rural issues in Canada. These two perspectives can alienate us but I believe our denominational family is stronger because of our diversity and I am privileged to serve in the midst of this.

Mary Dyk

Bio:

Mary has been very active on Olivet Baptist’s church council and as chair of its Worship & Service Committee. She has been a dedicated supporter of women’s ministries, serving on the BC Lower Mainland Baptist Women’s Retreat committee for years and as the Fraser Valley rep on the BC & Yukon Women’s Board, and as the President of BC & Yukon Women in Focus, 2006-2009. She currently serves on the BC Regional Advisory Team/BC Convention Board.

Mary lives in Port Coquitlam and has attended Olivet Baptist Church for 28 years. She is married to David and has 3 adult children, She is currently employed as a clerk at the Douglas College bookstore in Coquitlam.

Al Grochowski - Moderator

Bio:

Al is the Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Sechelt BC where he has served since 2004. He serves as Moderator of the BC/Y Region for 2010-2012 and as President of the Convention of Baptist Churches of BC . He enjoys a good cup of coffee, coaches the sport of soccer, plays board games with friends, but most of all loves to teach people about Jesus. Al and his wife Patricia have a daughter who has graduated high school and adopted a boy from South Africa in 2009.

Patrick Schoenberger

Bio:

Patrick Schoenberger is married to Marion and they have two daughters Rachel and Jalina. Patrick made a commitment to Christ while a student at the University of Lethbridge. He attended Edmonton Baptist Seminary and served as pastor at Stettler Baptist Church for several years. Patrick graduated with his Doctor of Ministry degree from Carey Theological College in 2008 and is currently the pastor at First Baptist Church in Camrose, Alberta. He has been to Israel twice and has a special place in his heart for God’s chosen people in The Promised Land.

Donna Orr

Bio:

Donna has served as Hospital Chaplain at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre for the past 4 years. She works with Ron, her husband of 34 years, to pastor Clive Baptist Church where they are beginning their 9th year of ministry. Donna helps with worship, teaching women and adult Sunday school. Donna is also an artist who paints large church pieces and is working on a stained glass window for the new Clive Baptist sanctuary. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Betty Smith

Bio:

Betty lives on a small farm west of Pincher Creek. She attends First Baptist Church in Pincher Creek, where she has been a member most of her life and has served in most church positions. She has worked on the Mill Creek Baptist Camp board for many years and has spent many summers volunteering at the camp. She is the registrar for the Alberta Women in Focus Fall retreat. A retired teacher librarian who worked for 29 years at Matthew Halton Schol, she is married with 3 sons, 1 daughter-in-law, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She likes to volunteer, plays the euphonium in the Crowsnest Pass Symphony Orchestra and enjoys golfing, gardening and many other pursuits.

Michael Cantlon

Bio:

Michael began attending First Baptist Church Brandon in his late teens. He served on and chaired the Stewardship and Property Commission and served on the church Executive. He enjoys helping with audiovisual on special occasions and Sunday mornings, and cooking for the Men’s Breakfast. For the past few years, Michael has represented the Heartland Region on the CBWC board. He has found this position to be both a challenge and a learning experience. Michael works as a loans officer at Westoba Credit Union. He is married and has one son. In his spare time he likes gardening, cooking, and building models.

Joshua Goetz

Bio:

Joshua has been the pastor in Asquith Saskatchewan since 2006. He married Sandra in 1995 and they have four children, Ben, Nathan, Samuel, and Rebekah. He loves to travel, read, and spend as much time as possible with his kids who are growing up far too quickly. Joshua finds great joy in living in Saskatchewan while remaining loyal to the Edmonton Eskimos. Before entering the ministry Joshua spent a number of years in the hydraulics industry but his kids still think his teenage years at McDonalds are by far the coolest thing he has done with his life.

Mary Stuber Doerksen – Co-Moderator

Mary is a Training Specialist for the department of Family Services & Consumer Affairs for the Province of Manitoba. Working 4 days a week, she loves her job because it allows her to do everything from developing training modules to delivering the training to recommending policy changes. She is married to Mark, who is the pastor at Willowlake Baptist Church in Winnipeg. They have 2 children who keep them busy. She volunteers at WBC on the hospitality committee, serves on the Heartland Area Resource Team and is a trustee for the closure of Pelican Lake Baptist Camp. Mary enjoys using her gifts of hospitality and service, as well as sitting down to drink Chai and read a good book.
