The Banqueting Table

The Banqueting Table is a social enterprise that provides work to single mothers and women trying to re-enter the workforce in North Vancouver. Women learn job skills and regain their self-confidence while preparing food and catering to celebrations, conferences and business events.

Co:Here Housing Initiative

Co:Here encourages intentional communities shaped by solidarity with the poor, hospitality, friendship, prayer and simplicity. It provides vulnerable people with affordable, supportive housing. Co:Here supports 3 intentional homes which are single-family dwellings where 5-11 variety of people share the daily rhythms of life together in each home. Individuals living at Co:Here work part-time to free up time to be involved in the community. This is a ministry of the Salsbury Community Society.

Crossroads Community Project

The Homestart Foundation

The HomeStart Foundation recycles used furniture to provide basic household furnishings so that families and individuals who are starting up or starting over can set up a home and move toward self-sufficiency more quickly. It provides furniture to refugees and immigrants, women fleeing abuse, and people suffering from illnesses such as AIDS. HomeStart is located in Vancouver.

Hope Farm Healing Centre

Hope Farm is a farm in Duncan, BC, that provides a place of recovery and agricultural job training for men dealing with addictions. Crops grown on the farm are given to local food banks or sold to sustain the farm. This is a ministry of the Mustard Seed in Victoria.

JustWork Economic Initiative

A social enterprise that provides employment with flexible hours and expectations for vulnerable people with multiple barriers to employment, such as physical disabilities, mental illness, homelessness and addictions, in Vancouver. JustWork enterprises foster dignified, safe and gainful work that helps individuals gain work experience and skills while they transition to regular jobs. Initiatives include JustRepairs, JustPotters, JustGarden and Just Catering. JustWork is a ministry of Salsbury Community Society.

Kinbrace

Kinbrace provides supportive transitional housing for refugee claimants in Vancouver. It provides refuges with support and advocacy through relationships and hospitality. Kinbrace currently has three homes where refugee families live.

Mountain Aire Lodge

REED - Resist Exploitation, Embrace Dignity

REED is an education and advocacy ministry that has the purpose of exposing and ending the exploitation of trafficked women forced into prostitution. Located in Vancouver, REED provides chaplaincy services to trafficked women and works to minimize sex trade trafficking through public education and advocacy. The Canadian Baptists of Western Canada was instrumental in establishing this organization and provides its main source of funding.
