Programs & ServicesGifted and Called Weekend Training Program - Women in Focus will come to your church and offer women a leadership training program. This weekend course helps women:
The course helps women understand themselves as being called by God to use their spiritual gifts and gives them the tools and confidence to carry out ministry responsibilities. Gifted, Called, Empowered - This follow-up weekend is now ready for those who want to pursue the call of God on their lives more fully. In this material, we offer tools for Spiritual Formation and listening to the heart of God. We delve more deeply into matching your gifts with your personality type and ways to launch a new ministry. Celebration Event - In 2010, we will be offering regional events on the subject of deepening soul friendships and mentoring. Alberta will be held at Gull Lake Center, April 23 - 25th; BC will be held at RockRidge Canyon near Princeton, BC, April 30 - May 2nd; Heartland Celebration will be at Russell Manitoba May 28 - 30th. Developing Meaningful Relationships There continues to be an overwhelming need amongst women to find deeper heart connections with other women. Life is just too hard to go it alone and as we have become more transient and less connected to our nuclear families, there is a growing need for people to speak into our lives at many levels. This year, Celebration will explore with you a variety of relational opportunities, from formalized mentoring, to spiritual companions, to deepening our face to face and shoulder to shoulder friendships. It is our desire to have a broad range of ages and generations come together this weekend as we share, care and grow together in meaningful relationships. Courses - "Gender and Hope: Recovering God's Dream for Humanity". This course is available on line upon request. If you can get four or more people who would like to study the Biblical response to women in ministry, contact Faye Reynolds to arrange dates for connecting. Bible Study Materials - Each fall, Women in Focus produces a Bible study that can be used for any small group gathering of women or men and women. This year's newest study is entitled: "God Talk: Theological Themes to Wrestle" Other Topics include:
Faye Reynolds writes one study each year and Marleen Bahr also offers studies that she produces for her own women's groups. We get very good feedback on the quality of these studies. Area Retreats - Each region offers women a spring or fall retreat to inspire their spiritual journey and build friendships. These retreats help women fulfill their primary desire of connecting to other women and being known by one another. They also encourage women to work in ways that make the church a more effective, caring community. The Great Canadian Bible Study - Each January, we participate in an annual Bible study with women across Canada as part of a fundraising project for Canadian Baptist Ministries. The study materials are provided for free, but we ask each participant to donate a Toonie or more toward our mission project. Presently, all funds received will go to support The Eva Rose York School for Women in Tuni, India. Mission Projects - We have completed our three year commitment to Kenya, but will continue to support the work in Africa through CBM's Guardians of Hope projects. As well, we will partner with the work in India through the Eva Rose York School, The Child Labour School and other ministries where there is need. Your donations are gratefully received for any of these ministries. We are also interested in supporting ministries in Canada such as the work of Michelle Millar and REED that endeavors to protect those caught in human trafficking. Monthly e-letters - Short devotionals are sent out monthly via e-mail to women who request it. It currently has a readership of about 400 women. We are striving to find ways to encourage the older women to mentor younger women through informal, spiritual friendship.
